Commercial Concrete Tables for Nando’s Teddington
Fluid Stone Studio manufactured a collection of bespoke polished concrete tables for the outdoor dining terrace at Nando’s Teddington in London.
The restaurant opened at the Park House development on Station Road in 2013, with a substantial dining area extending outside onto a landscaped terrace. Our concrete tabletops formed part of this external seating area, creating a durable material contrast with the timber seating, planting and restaurant façade.
Each tabletop was individually cast and hand-finished in our workshop before being supplied for the restaurant installation. The simple rectangular form and natural grey concrete finish were deliberately understated, allowing the tables to sit comfortably within the timber-led outdoor scheme while providing a robust surface for everyday hospitality use.
Concrete Designed for Commercial Outdoor Use
Restaurant furniture has very different demands from a domestic dining table. Surfaces need to cope with frequent use, regular cleaning, food and drink spills and prolonged exposure to an external environment.
Concrete is particularly well suited to this kind of application because the dimensions, thickness, edge profile, colour and finish can all be developed specifically for the project. It also allows substantial pieces to be produced without relying on an off-the-shelf furniture size or format.
For the Nando’s project, the concrete tops were designed as a coordinated set for the terrace rather than as individual feature pieces. Repeating the same restrained material and proportions throughout the outdoor seating helped give the area a consistent architectural character.
