These chunky concrete counters were cast at 80mm edge thickness with a small 5mm shadow gap with details on the vertical end panels to help define the joint between the worktops and the legs. Cast in Portland grey with a mid polish. The robust industrial look is maintained throughout the project with exposed raw London brick walls and grey painted structural steel beam. High bay workshop style lighting is used above the island while subway wall lights are positioned each side of the range cooker. Subtle use of surface mounted steel conduit to further embrace the authentic loft style kitchen.  As a final touch the owners also had some blackened steel brackets handmade to support some oiled and waxed scaffold boards to be used as handy shelving.
