CUSTOM CONCRETE SCREEN BLOCKS

Las Iguanas stands among the diverse dining options in the newly developed Royal William Yard in Plymouth, a prestigious Grade 1 listed naval complex alive with galleries, bars, museums, and eateries. Offering Latin American cuisine alongside delicious cocktails, Las Iguanas is a culinary highlight. Fluid Stone Studio was tasked with creating unique, handcrafted screen blocks in natural grey. Drawing inspiration from the rustic South American style and its characteristic curved V shape, the design was a novelty in the UK, never before commercially available. A bespoke mould, constructed from timber and fibreglass was used. A dry concrete mix was then to handpacked into the mould, which was then compacted using rubber mallets. The blocks were subsequently removed from the mould, air-dried, and cured to attain the necessary strength.
