Concrete worktops – The ultimate in design & fabrication

Fluid Stone Studio specialises in the production of handcrafted worktops, sinks, basins, shower trays, fireplaces, panels, tiles, countertops and outdoor furniture.

We are truly enjoying a concrete renaissance, customisation has become the number one desirable factor for homeowners –  people want to have their home their way.

I’ve written it a million times in this blog because it’s honestly the main reason that we have as much work as we do. If people just wanted any worktop they could easily get one, the reason that people order themselves a concrete worktop is because they have a very specific idea of how their kitchen should look and this requires a specific worktop.

Saying that we get contacted sometimes by open-minded people who don’t know exactly what they want, but know that they want something different.

How Concrete fits with 2020 Trends

Kitchen trends in 2020 include ‘colour pop’, ‘stone-look’, and ‘handleless designs’ – we can work with all of these trends to create a modern concrete kitchen of your dreams.

With colour pigments, we can make the concrete be any colour you want, whether you want a colourful pastel set or a natural stone look, we can create it.

Concrete Interiors

In the past, concrete has seemed a bit of a contentious issue when it comes to using it inside, always permitted as part of the foundations as buildings but as a decorative item? Savvy interior designers realise that concrete has expanded much further than the brutalist designs that filled our streets and plazas in the 70s and 80s, concrete can be anything you want it to be and so it can always fit in nicely with the latest design trends.

Sleek and modern interiors often make use of our worktops, we’ve used it to make polished space-age desks, rugged outdoor concrete tables, futuristic concrete sinks and shower trays and interior design pieces.

Concrete Wall Panels

The Urban-Industrial look is at an all-time high, and people are becoming less and less afraid to use concrete, despite the fact it is a very distinctive material. Walls can be constructed out of concrete and then polished to perfection, creating a shimmering, solid structural piece.

Concrete furniture

Designers are really getting stuck into ideas when it comes to concrete furniture – whether its concrete lamps, seating, storage cubes, planters or other kinds of concrete interior design pieces. If you want it – we can make it.

Concrete Kitchens

Kitchens are a part of the home where you are really free to experiment. If you choose a colour and style, concrete can be nicely integrated with this, working alongside other elements of your design.

People who want this freedom while still integrating some natural elements can make use of our ‘board-formed concrete’, which has natural patterns of wood imprinted upon its surface thanks to the process by which it is cast. The wood which is used to create the mould transfers over its grain pattern to the concrete and looks fantastic.
