Concrete worktops have a list of benefits which other materials naturally cannot match. At Fluid Stone Studios, we want to provide you with a bespoke design which will last a lifetime.
We have put together a guide with all the information you will need regarding the durability of these tailor made concrete surfaces, to help you make the most informed decision with your home improvement. We want you to give you our confidence and knowledge that concrete is the right choice.
Are concrete worktops heat resistant?
If you are using your concrete worktops in a kitchen space, you’re definitely going to need some heat resistance. Luckily, concrete is a super heat resistant material. However, like most kitchen surfaces, it’s best not to put hot pans directly onto them. This is to avoid any damage to the polishing and discolouration.
Do concrete worktops improve with age?
One great thing about concrete is that as it ages, it begins to take on its surroundings. They develop a warm patina which is a slight change in colour, and the concrete will develop its own aesthetic details. Concrete is the only kitchen worktop surface that will do this, instantly adding a classic, and unique finish to your home.
Are concrete worktops stain resistant?
In concrete raw state it is porous, and is susceptible to staining. However, at Fluid Stone we have a polishing and sealing process which keeps the concrete looking authentic whilst providing a surface that is stain resistant. We don’t like to use plastic sealants as they take away the authenticness.
How long do concrete worktops last?
Concrete is a hard, durable material that is designed to withstand a lot of wear. Unless you want a change, it’s very unlikely that you will need your worktops replaced.
Can you add colours and textures?
You can add a variety of pigments and finishes available to choose such as a board formed effect which can give your space a range of different textures and looks. This makes the surfaces unique and beautiful, and will increase the value of your home.
